Re: What was the reason for the Biafra-Nigeria war Reply by Uche on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 21:43:44:

Eastern Nigeria under the leadership of Ojukwu declared secession from Nigeria and declared a country called Biafra. This was as a result of persecution and incessant killings many people of Eastern Nigeria suffered in the north after the first coup. Mass migration due to growing persecution and the desire for a new country inspired Ojukwu to seek for a new nation outside Nigeria to include regions in the then south eastern Nigeria which included tribes like Igbo, Efik and Ijaw.
